Hollywood loses yet another bright star and his co-stars react to the tragic news. Star Trek star Anton Yelchin is remembered by his co-stars who they called their “little brother”. News of Anton Yelchin’s death sent shockwaves through Hollywood and his Star Trek family quickly took to social media to pay tribute to their fallen comrade. Yelchin, who was just 27, passed away early Sunday when his car slid backwards and pinned him against a brick pillar and security fence. The young star was on his way to meet friends for a rehearsal and when he didn’t show up, they went to his house where they found him deceased. News of his untimely death quickly spread and his Star Trek family took to social media to share their thoughts on the tragic loss of their co-star and friend. John Cho, who was perhaps closest to Anton, tweeted out, “I love Anton Yelchin so much. He was a true artist – curious, beautiful, courageous. He was a great pal and a great son. I’m in ruins.” Zachary Quinto took to Instagram to say that Anton was quote, “One of the most open and intellectually curious people I have ever had the pleasure to know. So enormously talented and generous of heart. Wise beyond his years and gone before his time.” Karl Urban also took to Instagram to remember Anton, posting a picture of the pair along with John Cho. Of his co-star, Urban said quote, “Anton was such a beautiful, gentle soul. He sought out new life experience with an unabated passion. He was edgy, incredibly talented and beautifully knowledge. His smile was radiant and mischievous. Truly an old soul in a young man’s body. He was a loving son. My heart, thoughts and prayers are with Anton’s family. I’m devastated. Godspeed you gorgeous man.” Zoe Saldana tweeted out, “Devastated by our friend’s loss. We are mourning his passing and celebrating the beautiful spirit that he was.” While co-star Simon Pegg showed his support by tweeting out a personal photo of his late friend. Sofia Boutella, who stars alongside Anton in next month’s Star Trek Beyond also took to Twitter to say of her co-star quote, “Anton Yelchin was 1 of the brightest, most inquisitive, loving, special & unique person I’ve ever met, I loved him so much. I am in pieces.” Star Trek Beyond director Justin Lin also took to Twitter to express his shock of the news tweeting out, “Rest in peace, Anton. Your passion and enthusiasm will live on with everyone that had the pleasure of knowing you.” Anton’s original Star Trek director, J.J. Abrams, tweeted out this hand written note to Anton saying quote, “You were brilliant…You were funny as hell, and supremely talented. And you weren’t here nearly long enough.” In a separate letter, Abrams spoke for the entire Star Trek family releasing the following statement: “Anton was our little brother. But only by years; he was as wise and clever and intellectually curious as anyone we ever knew. His laugh was preposterous – you couldn’t hear it and not laugh yourself. He was funny, edgy, wild and talented beyond measure. His focus and dedication was admirable, as was his love of family, friends, literature and music. We loved Anton, at work or at play. We are all shocked and numb and devastated by the world’s loss of an extraordinary young man. To his family, we send you our love during this impossible time. We will miss Anton forever.” I’m Danielle Robay, from all of us here at Clevver, we send our thoughts to Anton’s friends, family and fellow fans.

  1. idk why people compare star trek with star wars but star trek is different than star wars (in my opinion) … cuz star trek is about space ship and stuff mean while star wars is about jedi, and force and other thing….. i would compare star trek with battlestar galactica though cuz they are about space ships..

  2. I only found out just now. I am shocked. . . and now i remember that an aunt of mine was crushed by her car in a very it seems similar way. A long time Russophile I was impressed by the  Russian touches he added to his portrayal of Pavel Andreyevich Chekhov – including his introducing himself with his patronym in true Russian style. I may toast him with my favourite vodka after dinner tonight, drunk po russkiy of course   🙂

  3. When I first heard I was devastated but I didn't actually cry, it just made me so sad, but watching Beyond on Sunday with tears streaming down my face, I just can't get over it and it's only really hit me now.

  4. The transmission in his Jeep Grand Cherokee is a ZF 9 speed…same as I have in my 2016 Land Rover Discovery Sport…we don't know all the details but he presumably had it in park while the engine was running and it disengaged and rolled backwards (crushing him against his mailbox)…I just bought my car last week and Sunday I had a similar thing…I was stopped at a stop sign (vehicle in Drive) on a modest incline and when I went to pull out I removed my foot from the brake and pushed down on the accelerator pedal and nothing happened, the engine just revved and we began to roll backwards…luckily no one was behind me and I quickly braked and then backed up and stopped and put it back in Drive and the transmission engaged correctly…the new cars are so controlled by software that if there is a glitch they can do odd things that just a few years back with more mechanically operated cars were not possible.

  5. so sad he died. and the way he died is BULLshit if u ask me. and jeep should pay for their bullshit cars… how do u make OVER a MILLION DEFECTIVE products, and do nor say anything about it until something like his happens, and they act like its not their fault… his damn car literally just put itself in neutral and rolled onto him… CARS SHOULDN'T DO THAT, if its popping into another gear on its own that's a piece of shit product! and it really makes me angry!!!

  6. it is so said that we cannot see him in the next movie of star trek…..a greatest team lost a talented guy, who will cover his role ???? i am curious

  7. 🙁 So sad. He's in a better universe now. Rest in peace, Anton Yelchin. Wish he could've lived long and prospered.

By the way, this was not copy pasted. I tried my best in honor of the young Anton.

  8. i think all of the star trek crew are amazing and it is incredible(in my mind like impossible, still don't know much synonyms) loss.
i might knew before i watch this video but it still touches me a lot, and i finally felt that incredible emotion

  9. OMG! Has nobody noticed that so many things happened on the day of Anton's birth?
In 1989, there was a major earthquake in San Francisco (I live here). Also, Back to the Future 2 was released (some parts of the movie predicted present day). Daniel Radcliffe was born in 1989 and also the Berlin Wall came down in 1989. SO MANY EVENTS OCCURRED ON THIS AWESOME GUY'S BIRTH YEAR!!!

  10. This was so sad. I read up on his accident and what a horrible way to go and it truly was freak accident that should have never happened to such a bright, young man.
    R.I.P Anton. 😢😢❤❤

  11. I've always been a bit confused about the exact nature of the cause of his death! the Jeep rolled back and crushed him against the gate, I know that but I'm not sure why that would happen, at the time I thought he may have had an automatic and set the gear stick to park to hold the vehicle in place rather than also engaging the hand brake also! while putting the car in park mode can sometimes hold a car still its always best to engage the hand break as well.

  12. R.I.P Anton Yelchin

He was taken too soon. I remember watching him on start trek for the first time. He was such a wonderful actor and he sounded like an amazing person. I hope he is happy, where ever he is……😪😪😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

  13. If there is a reason to believe in the savior, it is that any one of us can die at any time…even when our car has a malfunction. Because of that possibility, we must be ready, so that we can boldly go where only one special man has gone before.

  14. His car rolled backwards just too unreal really sad the Enterprise is the Enterprise because of the guys at the helm the guys in the chair the guys in the front those are the people we look at and Anton was adorable

  15. I recently watched From Up on Poppy Hill and I hadn’t realized that he had voice acted one of the leading roles for the English dub until I watched the behind the scenes. I was so used to his accent in his Chekhov role. It made the film a lot more haunting when I watched it.
