IGN’s Jonathon Dornbush reviews Ring Fit Adventure, the new fitness-focused RPG for the Nintendo Switch, which will be available on October 18 for $79.99.

Ring Fit includes quickplay, customizable workout lists, and a full RPG campaign, which tasks players with stopping the dreadful Dragaux from spreading his evil upon the land through exercise-based combat.

  1. I know I'm going to sound like "that guy" here, but as someone who plays traditional turn based RPGs whilst on an exercise bike – if there had been more depth to this game, this might well have been a pickup, which goes against my usual no-gimmicks stance. Perhaps a sequel game with more depth might be in the offing now that the ring has been developed. But equally, I might not be the person Nintendo is really marketing this to.

  2. It will fail because people who want to keep fit make it a lifelong habit and don't need 'games' to motivate them, and people who like to play games do it not because they want to exercise.

  3. Love it. Absolutely love it. Don't even own a Switch but this is amazing. Workout + RPG? Sign me up! Imagine if all games required you to move. When people think gamers, they think… "Fit!" 😂😂😂

  4. playing on silent mode right now,yes you can even exercise while sitting down watching youtube, just put your switch on silent mode and press the right joycon to use the hoop on silent mode and will give you exp while you just squish :p

  5. Outranked by Mario Kart: Double Dash (7.9).

But seriously, I'm curious to give this one a try. As someone who didn't invest in Wii Fit back in the day, this looks like the real deal, and I'll be picking up my ringcon and game in the near future.

  6. Now it's time for them to make a Fitness meets Fighting genre spin. Imagine pulling off simplified Smash-like attacks and blocks with your actual body and how intense that would be…

  7. Stop gaslighting Nintendo's horrible horrible gimmicky ideas.. don't buy this game, and get fit the traditional way if you want to take working out seriously… this just makes you look ridiculous

  8. You actually kind of sold me on buying this lol it seems really interesting and a fun supplemental amount of daily exercise in addition to going to the gym everyday.
